Towards the Light

Next on my list is a second novel published in Poland. Towards the Light is the first tome of the trilogy of     Andrey Dyakov, appearing under the Universe of Metro 2033.

Abandoned world on the surface, didn't want to take people back. Beguiling, mysterious light has gone out, hidden like a wraith, like a swampy glimmer. Will they find the path towards the light, towards the hope, through all danger of the outer world? How many wanderers will reach it alive? Maybe one. Maybe no one.

From Petersburg's Metro, a group of riders is setting off with the mission of finding the secret light, which source resides somewhere in Kronstadt. They are led by Ram, experienced stalker. For participation he demanded... 12 year-old orphan, Gleb. In their crew, there is also follower of the Exodus cult, who believes in an ark, which will take the chosen ones to the paradise, free of radiation.

How will develop, initially rough, relations between custodian and a boy? What waits for them at their target? Will they meet the others, who survived the apocalypse? Will the mythical ark of the followers, cruiser Variag, take them from the base of Baltic Fleet?

There is one thing to say - Hope is a strange feeling.

At the beginning, I'd like to share with you the info about the very first book created in this destroyed and polluted world. Here's the general plot of the story.

Year 2033. As a result of the atomic conflict the entire world has been destroyed. Those few, who survived, now shelter in the Moscow Metro, which thanks to an unique construction became probably the last asylum of mankind. At these gloomy stations, illuminated by the emergency lights and fires glow, those people try to lead life similar to this one before the cataclysm. They create microcountries bonded by ideology, religion or just the protection of the water filters... they form an alliances and wage wars.

VDNKh is the most northerly, inhabited station of Metro. After the catastrophy, for the long time it remained safe, but now the great danger appeared. Artyom, a young man from VDNKh, receives a quest: he has to get to the legendary station of the Polis, in the heart of the Moscow Metro, to give warning about new danger. If he doesn't succeed, not only his station but the whole Metro will be doomed to gradual extermination.
